Mediterranean.Barcelona's port is sizeable with seven large terminals catering for the influx of cruise ships and liners. Once the ships are moored just south of Montjuic hill, then it is just a short ten minute taxi ride for the passengers to get to the city's Ramblas region.
From Barcelona, there is plenty to see and do via cruise tours. Each company offers something different, but there is plenty to choose from. At the higher end of the market is Celebrity Cruises that offers two week luxury voyages around the Mediterranean.
Meanwhile other firms such as Costa and MSC Cruises offer week-long cruises around the likes of the Costa Concordia or to the likes of Marseilles, Genoa, Tunis, Naples, Palma de Mallorca and Palmero. Meanwhile Norwegian Cruise Lines offers a week long trip aboard the Norwegian Jade to the likes of Monte Carlo, Rome, Naples, Florence and Palma.
If you want something a bit longer then Princess Mediterranean Cruises and Royal Caribbean Mediterranean Cruises offer 12 day tours all around the region stopping at the likes of Venice, Monte Carlo, Florence, Rome, Athens and other major Mediterranean ports.
Prices will vary from operator to operator, so it's best to do some research before settling on a particular tour.
